What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture, a key part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, promotes natural healing in the body. Hair-thin needles target specific points along energy pathways. These pathways, like rivers, can develop blockages that cause stagnation and pain. Acupuncture restores energy flow, relieving blockages and reducing pain.

Does it hurt?

Most patients feel no pain or a mild tingling, similar to a mosquito bite, that fades quickly. This response is normal. Many experience deep relaxation during treatment. The needles are hair-thin, about 1/10 the size of a doctor’s hypodermic needle. We tailor each session to the individual, ensuring a comfortable and positive experience.

Is it safe?

Yes, acupuncture is extremely safe and has been practiced for over 2,500 years. We use only sterile, single-use, FDA-approved stainless steel needles. Our practitioners are certified in Clean Needle Technique, meeting all licensure requirements.

How many treatments will I need?

This varies with different patients, depending on the severity and duration of the condition, the patient’s overall health, and age, which play a factor in how many treatments are needed.

What should I expect during my first acupuncture visit?

Your first visit will include a consultation to discuss your health concerns, medical history, and treatment goals. After that, you’ll receive an acupuncture session tailored to your needs. The entire appointment typically lasts 60–90 minutes.

Do I need to prepare for an acupuncture session?

It’s best to eat a light meal before your session and wear loose, comfortable clothing. Avoid caffeine or alcohol beforehand, and try to relax both before and after your treatment for the best results.

Does insurance cover acupuncture?

Coverage varies by provider and plan. Some insurance companies cover acupuncture for specific conditions, while others do not. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to see if your treatment is eligible for reimbursement. If needed, we can provide documentation for your claims.
